Side Effects of ISF35
One of Memgen's primary goals is to develop treatments that do not have the irreversible and toxic consequences associated with chemotherapy. In the realm of cancer treatment, the phrase "side effects" immediately evokes thoughts of the long-term, life-threatening complications associated with such therapythe substantial suppression of the immune system, bone marrow, and other systems throughout the body, such as the heart, lungs, and liver. The most common consequence of the damage to the immune system by chemotherapy is opportunistic pneumonia, which strikes with deadly force in many cases.
Immune Response: Flu-like Symptoms
In contrast to conventional cancer treatments, the Memgen approach activates the patient's own immune system against cancer cells, and the natural, typical response to such stimulation resembles cold or flu-like symptoms that usually last no longer than 72 hours: elevated temperature, runny nose, mild muscle weakness, sweating, lethargy, and nausea. These temporary symptoms demonstrate that the Memgen product has successfully activated the immune system and redirected it against the cancer. In other words, these are good, not bad, symptoms. Importantly, ISF35 is an immuno-stimulant that does not negatively impact T cell numbers or reduce normal B lymphocyte functions. In fact, T cell concentrations can be increased for as long as six weeks following ISF35 treatment.

Memgen's active immune therapy reeducates the immune system so it recognizes cancer as foreign and therefore worthy of attack. The body then responds naturally: body temperature rises, because the immune system is more efficient when it operates at a warmer temperature; and substances are released that help eliminate the pathogens from the body. Symptoms such as runny nose, sweating, and nausea facilitate these goals. Transient aches, weakness, and discomfort are not caused by the pathogens themselves but are the result of the immune system's attack on them.
When are side effects not adverse effects? Although technically these side effects are still counted as adverse events, they are often mild, temporary, natural responses by the immune system to the re-education process initiated by Memgen's active immune therapy.
